Kildimo Pallaskenry secure confident victory over Adare in senior hurling club championship

Kildimo Pallaskenry have secured their first win of the Bons Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship against Adare in Mick Neville Park

KILDIMO Pallaskenry got off to the perfect start after a confident 2-21 to 0-19 victory over local rivals Adare in the opening round of group two of the Bons Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale this evening. 

Adare will have to regroup quickly as they face Dromin Athlacca in the next round of the championship on Saturday, August 10, while Kildimo Pallaskenry take on Ballybrown next Thursday. 

Although Adare hit the first point of the game, Kildimo got an early goal boost as Shaun Barry volleyed to the net after Rob O’Farrell flicked the sliotar across the large rectangle. Willie Griffin replied for Adare however Kildimo Pallaskenry hit four points without reply over the next five minute period.

A further flurry of Kildimo points from McMahon, Hayes and O’Keeffe were matched by a hat trick of Griffin frees. Kyle Hayes operating at full forward caused havoc for the Adare full back line as he contributed to three of his sides scores to close out the half, with Kildimo leading 1-13 to 0-7. 

Adare resumed the second-half with intent as they cut Kildimo Pallaskenry’ lead down to four after 35 mins thanks to inspiring points from Declan Hannon and John Fitzgibbon.

A Barry free was Kildimo Pallas’ first score of the half while just a minute later his teammate Rob O’Farrrell netted a long range goal past PJ Hall to push his side seven in front.

Adare went on the charge again and began to eat into the lead once more with notable points from David O’Mahony and Wayne McNamara.

Kildimo Pallaskenry’s bench proved vital in the closing ten minutes as Darren O’Connel won two frees that were converted by Liam Griffin before Seanie Hartigan came up with back-to-back scores in additional time leaving them with the win, 2-21 to 0-19.
