LIMERICK players and fans alike took to social media to react to the Shannonsiders extraordinary sixth Munster Senior Hurling Championship title in-a-row after a resounding 1-26 to 1-20 win against Clare at FBD Semple Stadium last Sunday.

A powerful second half display from the Shannonsiders, including a crucial goal from Gearoid Hegarty, helped the All-Ireland champions, who had been level with their opponents at half-time, retain the Mick Mackey Cup in some style.

Players posed with the Mick Mackey Cup in the dressing rooms of Semple Stadium with the likes of Aaron Gillane and Darragh O'Donovan calling younger player Shane O'Brien the "Bull" after the Kilmallock man made his first Championship start for Limerick.

O'Donovan also praised the youngster stating "This man is going to e one of the all time greats", high praise from the currently injured mid-fielder.

Speaking after the incredible victory Limerick hurling manager John Kiely stated: “To win today's final was first and foremost in our thoughts and preparations.

"In our levels of satisfaction and what it means to us straight away after the game, it is about winning today's game and this final against super opposition who put up a massive battle.

"You just can't stop moving forward and the boys have a very clear understanding of the necessity for us to keep moving forward, to getting better and hitting the targets that we want to hit in terms of performance and that is all that matters to us at the end of the day.

Louise Cantillon, captain Declan Hannon's wife also took to Instagram to show her appreciation for this generational hurling team captioning her post "It's his 6 appeal for me, bródúil" followed by a selection of photos from the celebrations.

Limerick have now become the first side ever to win six provincial hurling titles on the bounce, a huge achievement for the players and backroom team under manager John Kiely.

This win also cements Limerick's place as favourites to complete a five-in-a-row of All-Ireland final wins later this summer.

Kyle Hayes, yet again, had a resounding performance from wing back while sporting a true Championship haircut pictured after the game with Declan Hannon and Diarmaid Byrnes.

After a few weeks of excitement for one of Limerick's star-players Cian Lynch he can add another Munster title to his trophy room. His partner Dayna Slattery announced the pairs fabulous news of expecting twins in the coming months with Dayna also taking to Instagram to show her families support of boyfriend Cian.
