THERE was Aintree Grand National glory for JP McManus as I Am Maximus made history by retaining the title won two years ago.
After finishing second in the race last year, the horse - ridden by Paul Townend and trained by Willie Mullins finished strong to overtake Jordans as the line approached.
The win marks a fourth Aintree Grand National for Limerickman McManus - more than any other owner in history.
I Am Maximus also became the first top weight horse to win the Grand National since 1974.
Another element of history to the victory was for Irish trainer Willie Mullins, who had his third win in-a-row in the famous race.
Iroko finished in second ahead of Jordans and Johnnywho.

The win means that JP McManus is now the leading owner with four wins in the famous race including victories with Don't Push It in 2010, Minella Times in 2021 and I Am Maximus in 2024.
The Limerick businessman whose family home is in Martinstown, County Limerick can also boast owning three of the top four home in this year's Grand National, with only Jordans not in his stable.
