Limerick eyes up Canadian tourist market

Canadian travel agents with Lauren Lamonday, Tourism Ireland; Gillian Griffin, Adare Manor and tour guide Barbara Hunter

TRAVEL agents from Canada visited Limerick just before Christmas, as >w 8.15pt<part of a Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland initiative.

The aim of the visit was to highlight Ireland as a year-round vacation destination for holidaymakers from the North American country.

The group’s schedule included a visit to the Treaty City microbrewery in Nicholas Street in the city centre, where the unique Limerick lager is made.

They also headed to the five-star Adare Manor resort.

Sandra Moffatt, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Canada commented: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of Canadian travel agents to visit Limerick and Ireland, to experience at first-hand some of our luxury tourism offering – including our boutique hotels and luxury resorts – as well as our rich culture and heritage, and not forgetting our superb culinary experiences.”

She added: "Working with the travel trade is an important element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional activity in Canada, so fact-finding visits for groups like this are really important. Seeing is definitely believing and our aim is that they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination when they return home, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland in 2023 and beyond."
