A PHARMACIST working in a County Limerick town has won the biggest ever cash prize in Irish radio history.

Siobhán Elliot a pharmacist at Plunkett's Pharmacy in Croom won a grand total of €111,111.11 on Today FM's Cash Machine.

An emotional Siobhán, who lives in Sixmilebridge, County Clare did not expect to be taking a phone call that would very well change her life when she woke up this morning.

The daily prize had not been won in a number of days with the prize money increasing each day.

The Cash Machine competition runs across the GoLoud network of radio stations, which also includes Spin South West and Newstalk and it had been announced earlier that no matter what there would be a winner this Friday.

A nervous Siobhán was the third caller the presenters rang and she answered (within five rings) right before the call would cut off.

"I'm just shocked really at the moment, I can't believe it," Siobhán said as she tried to compose herself.

"I wasn't expecting it. I had my phone on me but didn't think I'd get the call," she laughed.

Siobhán said she doesn't have any plans on what to do with the money as of yet.

"I must get home later and speak to my husband about it," Siobhán told Limerick Live.

"Sometimes, I enter the competition when it's on the radio at work but I never expected to win like this," she added.

There was a fierce buzz outside Plunkett's Pharmacy following Siobhán's win as those driving by were beeping their horns in celebration.

Locals were even entering the pharmacy to wish Siobhán well.
