FRESH from scorching the grass of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, rugby star Keith Earls is hotfooting it to Charleville this Tuesday evening.

The Charleville Park Hotel and Leisure Club will host a fundraising event with the Lions, Irish and Munster rugby star.

Limerick man Keith will spend the evening in conversation with local man, John Twomey, in aid of Charleville and District Rugby Club. The conversation will be a wide-ranging one, covering all areas from Keith’s younger days to the current Six Nations campaign and some interesting details on motivation and his diet.

Pa Leahy, club chairperson, said he is looking forward to the event and welcoming Keith to Charleville this Tuesday, February 26.

“Our rugby club is going from strength to strength, we have a bright future and I am determined to see the young players get the best possible opportunity. We changed our name last year to Charleville and District because we have a lot of players from the surrounding villages - we have players coming in from everywhere.

“We have fantastic facilities now, we have three fine dressing rooms, referee room and a medical room. Our next move now is to build a gym,” said Pat.

“We have good lights for training but they are not good enough to play a match under and this event should help collect some much-needed funds,” he continued.

The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, €10, for the event are available from Eventbrite and the hotel reception.
