A FOURTEEN-year old boy was refused bail after he appeared in court in Limerick charged with robbing a smartphone from another youth in the city centre.

The teenager, who can’t be named because of his age, is accused of threatening to stab the complainant at O’Connell Street at around 2.45pm on Monday before taking his phone.

After upholding a garda objection to bail, Judge Marian O’Leary remanded the defendant in detention to Oberstown Children Detention Campus.

A second youth who was also arrested was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
