Adam’s team of Fine Art specialists to host valuation event in Limerick

THIS February Adam’s team of Fine Art specialists are travelling the country in order to meet with clients and to accept consignments for the Spring / Summer auction season.

After a hugely successful 2018, the team is on the road again providing professional, discrete appraisals and gathering high quality lots for 2019 auctions.

Last year’s auction results confirmed that now is the time to sell at auction in Ireland and that Adam’s is the auctioneer of choice when it comes to achieving great results.

"This February we will be on-hand across a range of venues, to provide complimentary and confidential valuations, on any pieces of jewellery, art, antiques or items of interest that clients may wish to consign to one of our auctions," said a spokesperson.

Adam’s Spring/Summer season includes a full schedule of auctions covering all departments:

Auctions)

- Important Irish Art

- Fine Jewellery & Watches

- 20th Century Furniture & Design (Mid Century – Modern Auction)

- Important Historical Documents & Artefacts (The History Sale)

"We look forward to welcoming clients at our various venues across the country in order to share our experience and to build new relationships for the future," said the spokesperson.

Important Irish Art

Last year a total of €3.3m was achieved across four Important Irish Art auctions. In our May auction, ‘Gathering the Flock’ by Walter Osborne sold for €206,000, while in December Oisín Kelly’s bronze ‘Children of Lir’ fetched €45,000, setting a new world auction record for a work by this artist.

Fine Period Furniture & Decorative Arts

Our hugely popular ‘At Home’ auctions and our Country House Collections at Townley Hall together realised €3.8m last year. Among the many highlights at Townley in October was the O’Brien ‘Armada Table’ which achieved a staggering €450,000.

The popularity and success of the Sunday auctions is indicative of the ever-growing confidence in the market. With many younger buyers now integrating antique pieces into their decorative schemes, there is a new demand for antique furniture and furnishings. Quality Irish Georgian pieces are particularly popular, many of which are featured in our Country House Collections Auction in October.

Fine Jewellery & Watches

2018 was a record-breaking year for the Jewellery Department at Adam’s. In May we held what was at the time the highest grossing jewellery auction ever to take place in Ireland, with a sale total of €789,000. In September we continued to break records with an even bigger blockbuster sale grossing €893,000. We finished off the year with another fantastic Christmas auction, bringing our sale total for the year to just over € 2.5 million. This was achieved with an average sold rate of 80%.

These results continue to prove that there has never been a better time to sell fine jewellery at auction in Ireland and that Adam’s is the auctioneer of choice when it comes to achieving the best results.

New Specialist Sales: Asian Art | Mid-Century Modern

2018 saw two exciting new additions to our calendar year with the introduction of the Asian Art Sale and the Mid-Century Modern Sale. These auctions proved hugely successful, attracting a new and diverse audience from both Ireland and the rest of the world. We look forward to welcoming you once again to these sales in 2019 as we continue to grow and diversify for our clients.
