THE FINALISTS in the Sunway Holidays Most Stylish Lady competition at Limerick Racecourse were from as far as away as America but a Limerick woman was first past the post.

Carita Conway, from Castleconnell, won a holiday for two to the Algarve.

She mixed bespoke pieces from boutiques with high street fashion in her stunning ensemble. Carita, an office manager, wowed in a black and gold suit from Willow Boutique in Galway. Her black headpiece was by Marc Millinery and her look was accessorized with a fur stole from Dunnes Stores, shoes from Penneys and gloves by Ted Baker.

The second prize was a luxury overnight stay for two in a junior suite in the Savoy Hotel Limerick to include dinner and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

Third place was a VIP day at Limerick Racecourse for four people in 2019.

The 10 finalists – including Stephanie Weimer from Boston – each received a €50 voucher for Phoenix V Boutique. Judge, Asta Lee, a model, agent and a director of the Holman Lee Agency, said: “I was very impressed with the style and the effort that the ladies made - well done to all!”

The competition capped off a memorable four days in Greenmount Park for the Mr Binman Limerick Christmas Racing Festival. Favourable weather conditions, the top class racing and superb facilities helped swell the overall attendance to 40,426. It is up from 40,072 in 2017.

Everybody went home happy and especially Carita.
