THE LIMERICK dad of actress Evanna Lynch has urged hurling fans travelling to Boston this weekend to vote for his girl in Dancing with the Stars.

Evanna, who played Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter, avoided the double elimination this week and is now the final four of the hit show.

Proud father, Donal Lynch, from Murroe, paraphrased Shane Dowling who said after beating Cork, “I really hope we’re not just going to get to the final to march behind the band”.

“Like Limerick, we’re in the final and we’re not going to LA just to listen to the music. As Shane might have added, we’re here to win,” said Donal, who asked fans going to Boston for the Fenway Classic and Limerick people living in America to vote for Evanna.

“Their support would bring in a huge Irish vote in America and when it’s all done and dusted maybe we could get a picture of the Mirror Ball and the Liam MacCarthy side by side. Wouldn’t that round off the year nicely?” said Donal.

He says they can vote online on Monday night for Evanna and her dance partner Keo Motsepe by logging on to dwtsvote.abc.go.com and following the instructions on the screen, or dialling 1 800 868 3405 FREE.

“I think that Limerick isn’t done winning in 2018 just yet!” said Donal.

On Monday night Evanna wowed the judges and audience with a foxtrot and contemporary number, dedicating the latter to the late Irish director Simon Fitzmaurice with whom she worked on My Name is Emily. Simon passed away last from motor neuron disease aged just 42.

“I thought it was pure poetry. I texted her immediately to say that she had immortalised Simon - everything about your performance was a tribute of the highest order, carrying his message to America and to the world. My sister, Mary, in Seattle summed it up well when she said that Evanna danced like a fairy,” said Donal.

Evanna said on the show: “I never got to say goodbye … I want this dance to be as if he were directing this dance.”

The finale of Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC on Monday at 8pm ET.
