A MOTORIST is facing the prospect of a fine and penalty points for travelling at almost twice the speed limit while exiting the Limerick Tunnel.
According to a post on social media, the vehicle was travelling at 142 kph in an 80 kph zone when encountered by members of the Roads Policing Unit on Thursday night.

The car was stopped on the Clare side of the Limerick Tunnel and gardai have confirmed a Fixed Charge Notice (FCN) will be issued.
Motorists who are caught speeding receive three penalty points on their driver’s licence.
