Warning for Limerick motorists as low weather warning remains in place

There is dense fog at several locations in County Limerick

MOTORISTS are being warned of dense fog and freezing road temperatures across Limerick this Wednesday morning.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) says the air temperature at the Limerick Tunnel was still below zero (-0.4 degrees) at 8.50am while the road temperature was just 1.6 degrees.

The road temperature at Clonmacken was just 0.1 degrees at 8.40am while the road temperature on the N21 at Abbeyfeale was -1.2 degrees at 8.41am. 

There are also freezing temperatures on the N24 at Pallasgreen where the mercury remained below zereo (-0.3 degrees) at 8.40am.

There have been no reports of serious accidents but Gardai, the Road Safety Authority and AA Roadwatch are all advising motorists to drive with care.

Meanwhile,a national weather alert – warning of low temperatures - remains in place.
