Limerick gardai issue warning over counterfeit notes

GARDAI are warning retailers and shoppers to be vigilant following the detection of a number of counterfeit banknotes over the past week.

Sergeant Justin McCarthy, divisional crime prevention officer, has confirmed gardai have been alerted to two incidents of bogus banknotes being circulated in Limerick.

The source of the notes, which were of €20 and €50 denominations, is being investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local garda station.
