WITH Christmas just around the corner, the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick will hold its Christmas Tree lighting ceremony this Friday at 5pm in the central concourse, to mark its Festive Family Weekend.

The event promises to be an enjoyable day for all as there will be live music entertainment from RTE Junior’s Emma O’Driscoll accompanied by Unity Gospel Choir, who will be singing Christmas songs and handing out sweets and treats.

The ceremony coincides with black Friday, where there will be sale offers in the shopping centre from 9.30am to 9pm. Also special visitor Santa will be arriving at the Garryowen Mall entrance at 1pm on Sunday before making his way through the mall to Santa’s Grotto to meet all of the children.

Crescent Shopping Centre manager John Davitt said: “The Crescent Shopping Centre has been the centre of Christmas tradition in Limerick for over 40 years, and holds many memories for the community and this year will be no different.

“We look forward to welcoming Emma O Driscoll and of course our very special guest, Santa, who will be in his Grotto at the Crescent from Sunday November 27 every day until Christmas Eve. We look forward to welcoming people to the Crescent this Christmas period and for events over the weekend.

“The Crescent has always been a great place to meet old friends over Christmas, or spend a day with the family, with shopping from 90 retailers, great gift ideas and the of course the Crescent Gift Card for those that like to pick their own present, eateries and of course the 12-Screen Cinema to entertain young and old.”

The Crescent will start its Christmas late opening hours from Monday 12 December.
