Limerick city restaurant ordered to close

A Closure Order was served on Fitto cafe earlier this week

MANAGEMENT at a café in the city centre which has been ordered to close say it will reopen ‘as usual’ tomorrow.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed a Closure Order was served on Fitto Café, Catherine Street on Monday.

It was ordered to close under the provisions of the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2010 following an inspection which was carried out by environmental health officers from the HSE.

The FSAI has not disclosed the specific reasons as to why the premises was ordered to close or when the Closure Order is likely to be lifted.

However, a handwritten note which was posted in the window of the premises this lunchtime read: "Apologies Customers, Technical problems open as usual from Tomorrow”.
