THE Pig ‘n’ Porter, Ireland’s largest tag rugby festival, will celebrate its 15th year when it kicks off at Old Crescent RFC on Saturday, July 9.
The event will start at 11am with over 120 teams taking part.
The festival is firmly rooted in Old Crescent folklore, with the added celebration this year of Old Crescent finishing top of the Ulster Bank League Division 2C.
“The Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival will showcase the proud sporting tradition of Limerick to a wide audience and provides a welcome boost to the local tourism and hospitality sectors,” said the organisers.
After the prizes have been handed out, the festival continues into the early hours with a live band – Whitewater – and of course, the now legendary Fr Ted Disco.
The festival would not be possible without the generous support of main sponsor Bulmers, and associate sponsors, Bord na Mona, Keanes Jewellers, PBC Construction, Limerick Hotels Association, Shannon Airport, Davis Printers, Dennehy Motors, NKC Karting, and the University of Limerick Sports Campus who will be hosting some of the early rounds of the festival.
