Woman, 30s, attacked by man with hurley in Limerick town is rushed to hospital

A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after she was assaulted in the early hours of the morning in a county town, Limerick Live has learned.

It is believed she suffered serious injuries after being beaten by a man wielding a hurley in Kilmallock.

Following a media query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed they received a report of an incident of assault that occurred in the Lord Edward Street area of Kilmallock, on Sunday, January 25 at approximately 5.20am.

“A woman, aged in her 30s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

It is understood that the assault occurred after a house party in a nearby estate in the town.

One local source said: "This is beyond the pale stuff - she was badly beaten with a hurley. Everybody is horrified by it."

Anybody with any information that can assist gardai with their enquiries is asked to contact investigating officers in Bruff garda station on 061 382940.
