This is part of the Limerick Regeneration Programme and the funding will help 53 organisations to deliver 100 projects.

The ESIF initiative works with local communities to enhance quality of life and foster a pride of place and has allowed for new services to be delivered.

Projects have achieved advancements in employment, education and community safety.

There is a holistic approach with projects looking at areas like education, health, ageing well, work, youth at risk  and community development and safety.

Projects being funded include a homework club in Ardscoil Mhuire, a Bedford Row family project, a Northside GAA project, a King's Island employability for Limerick Youth Service, youth sensory garden projects and afterschool projects.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran said: “This fund is about transforming lives across Limerick. It supports practical action that opens the doors to equal opportunity for all, which is a key pillar in the More for Limerick mayoral programme.”

Príomh Comhairleoir of Limerick, Cllr. Catherine Slattery added:  "I see first-hand the difference this funding makes in our communities every single day. It is keeping vital projects alive that support families, young people, and older residents. These initiatives give people hope, create opportunities, and strengthen the sense of belonging in our regeneration areas. Without this funding, many of these services would simply disappear. It is the backbone of positive change in Limerick."

Director of Regeneration, Sports and Recreation at Limerick City and County Council, Brian McCarthy stressed that the projects deliver tangible benefits across the regeneration areas.

“The Economic and Social Intervention Fund has been a vital support for locally led regeneration, enabling community organisations to respond to real social and economic needs, and its positive impact on communities is clearly evident. Limerick City and County Council will continue to work closely with partners to ensure this essential investment delivers sustainable lasting outcomes.”
