A PENSIONER has shared how a random act of kindness by a “mystery man” brightened up her visit to the University Hospital Limerick (UCH).
Linda (Lucy) Fitzgearld, 72, had to visit A&E in UHL, travelling from her home of Emly, Co Tipperary.
“I have been out in Limerick hospital three times in the last 15 months, and each time the staff have been absolutely delightful.”
During her visit this Tuesday, June 17, Lucy found herself trying to buy something to eat.
“I had been trying to buy a sandwich and a drink, but couldn’t find my purse in my bag. A mystery man came up behind me, telling me ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ll pay for you’ and when I insisted that it was ok, he went on to say ‘I insist on paying for you’," she explained.

“I don’t know who he was or if worked at the hospital, but it really made my day. He was genuinely kind and I want to thank him again.”
Lucy touched on her previous experience of other hospitals saying, “being a woman of a certain age can make you invisible.”
Things changed for Lucy when she got sent by her GP to UHL.
“I felt listened to, and it made me feel sane.”
“I was met with nothing but kindness, and I want to thank the staff at Limerick hospital. To the nurses who helped, the doctors who listened, and the receptionist who went above and beyond, thank you.”
