Approval for housing project in Clonconane
LIMERICK City and County Council has given conditional planning permission to the latest phase of a major northside housing development.
Riverpoint Construction has received the go-ahead for 99 homes in the townland of Clonconane between Old Cratloe Road and Pass Road which leads to Meelick in Clare.
The development will comprise of 42 semi-detached homes, with three beds.
It’s projected these will be joined by 36, two-storey four bed semi-detached units.
This will be alongside four, two-storey four bed detached units, and one, two-storey three-bed detached home.

Also part of the plan are two blocks of two-storey apartment units.
These will comprise of eight one-bed apartments and eight two-bed apartments.
The latest approval comes as part of an overall development plan submitted by Riverpoint which will eventually see hundreds of living spaces in the area north of the River Shannon.
But the project attracted local submissions to council.
One resident said the housing plans go against the existing character of the local area.
They said this is “rural bungalows in a low-density format”.
Concern was also expressed at waste water solutions in the local area.
Riverpoint Construction has had applications for a number of developments on the same lane before planners in recent years.
A plan for 99 units was granted by An Bord Pleanala in April.
Proposals for 54 units are currently before the national planning appeals body.
A blueprint for a childcare facility was approved in April 2023. The following month saw council approval for 86 new homes in the area, and a further 12 that August.
Some 98 homes were also green-lit by council last year.
In this latest application, permission was given subject to 30 conditions.
