SEVEN candidates have been returned to Limerick City West, including one new face in the area.
Raheen councillor Daniel Butler, Fine Gael, started things off, smashing through the quota of 1,520 and securing election with over 2,200 votes.
Also returned on the first count was his running mate, Daniel McSweeney of Patrickswell. He was elected with 1,725 first preference votes.

After that, it was not until the ninth count in City West when Labour councillor Joe Leddin returned for a sixth straight election.
He passed the quota with 1,538 votes.
The final four seats were not filled until the 12th and final count in the district.
Fianna Fail councillor Fergus Kilcoyne took the fourth seat in the district without reaching the quota. He polled 1,405 votes.
Next to take a seat was Social Democrats councillor Elisa O'Donovan, who secured 1,378 votes.
Fianna Fail secured their second council member in the district, Bangladeshi national Azad Talukder, who was something of a pace-setter in the early part of the vote.
In the end, he was elected without reaching the quota, and had 1,278 votes.
The final seat was won by Independent candidate Maria Donoghue, an architecht based in O'Connell Avenue in the city centre.
Her vote of 1,252 saw her get across the line without reaching the quota.
The completion of the count in City West also heralded the end of the local election overall.
Forty councillors are now in place for the next five years to serve Limerick city and county.
