ONE LIMERICK GAA club are taking on a virtual trip from a Limerick village to America in a bid to raise €10,000 before June 26.
The money raised will be split between Granagh National School, Ballingarry National School and the completion of the Granagh-Ballingarry Bord na nÓg training pitch.
Up until June 26, people will cover 4,667 kilometres - the distance from the Granagh-Ballingarry clubhouse to the Boston GAA grounds in Canton, Massachusetts.
The entire club, right up from the U6’s to the parents, committee members and supporters will be taking on the challenge.
“Every stride, pedal, scoot, skip and jump counts in this colossal endeavour,” a club spokesperson told the Limerick Leader.
Among the coaching staff is Ballingarry native, Niall Hanley who will form part of the 70-strong group in Boston.
Walkers, runners, cyclists, and rowers from across the community are asked to get involved in the mammoth effort.
There will be a spinathon in O’Gorman’s and O’Grady’s shops on June 22.
The whole event culminates with the Boston GAA Féile football U15 team visiting Limerick on June 26 for a mini blitz between Boston, Castletown-Ballyagran and Granagh-Ballingarry.
