Flash protest outside UHL
A FLASH protest has taken place at the University Hospital Limerick (UHL) this Saturday afternoon, March 16.
People are gathering at the hospital to protest against the ongoing trolley crisis and are calling for the reopening of emergency departments (EDs) in surrounding areas such as St John's, Nenagh and Ennis.
Calls to alleviate waiting times have also been made at this impromptu protest, where people are saying "we deserve better".
With wet weather conditions forecast for Limerick the entirety of the day, the flash protestors are standing with a banner inside the reception area of the hospital, rather than outside.
In the latest trolley count, 82 were waiting in UHL on trolleys making it the highest nationwide on March 15.
Nationwide a total of 444 patients, including 31 children, were without a bed in Irish hospitals this Friday. 2,528 have gone without a bed in Irish hospitals this week, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
