Two Limerick villages to benefit from new flood relief funding

Funding has been announced for minor flood mitigation works in Limerick

ALMOST €200,000 has been announced for minor flood mitigation works in west Limerick.

Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Patrick O’Donovan, TD, confirmed the approval of two applications from Limerick City and County Council for funding for the Askeaton and Shanagolden areas.

A total of €70,313 has been announced for proposed works at Ballyellinan, Askeaton, which will include the construction of storm main access chambers and gullies along the L1220 to manage surface water on both sides of the row of houses, and for the implementation of a storm drain to be located north of the dwellings.

Also confirmed is €128,889 for proposed works to the south east of Shanagolden village which include the construction of a storm main along the L1220 to manage surface water on both sides of the row of houses and a soakaway system.
