A LIMERICK sustainability firm has secured €1.2m in European funding which will be used to continue its research around water.
20Fifty Partners has been given the grant by Horizon Europe which is the European Union’s (EU) research and innovation fund.
Based in Plassey, 20Fifty Partners designs and delivers sustainability programmes.
The research this funding is tied to will allow the company’s staff to continue on its state-of-the-art research on the reuse and repurposing of water and the decarbonisation of industrial water life-cycles among other things.
20Fifty Partners was one of only three firms granted funding in this round.
The funding programme plays a role in addressing the issue of climate change, achieving the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals and boosting the EU’s competitiveness and growth.
Ken Stockil, the chief executive of 20Fifty Partners said: “According to the UN, industrial water use globally is expected to grow dramatically by 2050 with a 400% growth rate predicted across global manufacturing sites alone. This is unsustainable.
"Delivering this highly impactful research will provide significant environmental and societal benefits, contributing to the EU climate neutrality goal.”

20Fifty management are also working with the Environmental Protection Agency on its research.
Its programme manager Dr Tara Higgins said: “The EPA is delighted to see previous EPA-funded research by 20Fifty Partners now being built on and taken forward through these larger European projects.”
The funding the firm receives is divided across two separate projects.
