TOM AND Molly Martens, the killers of Limerick man Jason Corbett are due to be released from prison three weeks early.

Mr Martens, a former FBI agent’s release date was initially brought forward from June 27 to June 6, this year, according to Ralph Riegel of the Irish Independent. Ms Martens release date was later also brought forward to June 6.

Molly and her father, Tom were sent back to prison in November 2023 for the 2015 manslaughter of Mr Corbett.

Following a voluntary manslaughter hearing held in November, the Martens were expected to serve between seven months and two-and-a-half years in prison having already served three-and-a-half years of a sentence for second-degree murder that was imposed in 2017 before it was quashed by North Carolina Supreme Court.

The November hearing heard emotional pleas for heavy sentences from Mr Corbett's two children, Jack (19) and Sarah (17). The hearing added seven months onto the Martens' sentences.
