A WEATHER warning is in place for Clare as the clean-up following Storm Isha gets underway in Limerick and across the country.

While Limerick and Clare county escaped the worst as the storm made its way across the country, thousands of homes, farms and businesses in both counties remain without an electricity supply this Monday morning.

In Limerick, the largest fault - at Churchtown, Newcastle West - is impacting almost 1,000 customers.

A status orange wind warning for Limerick and Clare was lifted by Met Éireann in the early hours of the morning but a status yellow warning remains in place for Clare until 7pm.

According to the forecaster, very strong and gusty westerly winds can be expected throughout the day.

Potential impacts include large coastal waves with wave overtopping, difficult travelling conditions and debris.
