International academics to visit Limerick for short-term lecture series

Lero is based at the Tierney building at UL

TWO INTERNATIONAL professors are on their way to work in Limerick, having been awarded a special academia opportunity.

Lero, the SFI research centre for software, hosted by University of Limerick (UL), announced London-based professor, Federica Sarro and Australian-based professor, John Grundy as the newest recipients of the David Lorge Parnas fellowship.

The fellowship is a fully funded, short-term post which allows both successful candidates to collaborate ‘closely’ with Lero researchers and industry partners, according to Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Director of Lero.

“We look forward to welcoming Federica and John to Ireland and to Lero.

"They join an exclusive group of internationally distinguished academics, who will work closely with Lero researchers and industry partners,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

As part of their tenure, professors Sarro and Grundy will deliver a ‘distinguished lecture’, sharing their knowledge and insights on software engineering research with Lero students and staff in Limerick.

Since it was founded in 2005, Lero has become one of the best-known software research centres in the world and has been hosted by UL for the last 18 years.
