A STATUS orange wind warning remains in place this morning after Limerick escaped the worst of Storm Debi overnight.
A red wind warning was previously in place as strong gusts battered the country overnight but that has now been downgraded to orange for Limerick.
The orange warning is in place until 10am with Met Eireann warning of possible dangerous travelling conditions, damage to power lines, fallen trees and damage to structures.
The storm has now moved easterly with Limerick escaping the worst of the damage.
Power outages that were reported earlier this morning in Caherdavin have been restored with work ongoing to restore power in Gillogue.
Schools, creches and colleges across the county remain closed this morning but are expected to open after 10am.
The University of Limerick Hospitals Group have said their services will go ahead as usual but advised patients to only travel if it safe to do so.
Limerick City and County Council said they have no reports of any major storm related damage bit have advised people to exercise caution "as strong winds associated with Storm Debi are likely to have resulted in debris on roads and other issues".
