The late Noreen Garvey will be sadly missed in Emmet Street and Kilmallock
THE LATE Limerick woman Noreen Garvey has been fondly remembered as the “life and soul of Kilmallock”.
Ms Garvey (née Ahern), of Emmet Street was well-known in the town from her time running the 41 Bar with her late mother Tess.
Whether it was behind the bar or out on the street she always had time for a chat and a kind word.
Ms Garvey, aged 66, went to her God in University Hospital Limerick on October 13 while surrounded by her loving family.
She had unexpectedly fallen ill on the previous day. The Garvey family thanked University Hospital Limerick for their “kind and exceptional care” in the death notice.
Ms Garvey is deeply regretted by her loving husband Mike; son John; brother John; sister Ann (Kennington); brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, niece Clara and nephew Cathal, cousins, relatives, very kind neighbours and her many friends.
There is not one person in Kilmallock who didn’t know Ms Garvey and she is fondly remembered as the “life and soul” of Emmet Street and the town.
As well as serving drinks to patrons of the 41, she served food to farmers in the mart cafe.
Ms Garvey was very involved in the local residents’ association and Neighbourhood Watch and large numbers of mourners attended her removal, funeral Mass and burial.
