GLOBAL wresting superstar Becky Lynch is lending her support to Milford Care Centre's flagship annual fundraiser.

Becky, who was born in Limerick, is rowing in behind the charity's coffee morning event, which this year takes place on Thursday, September 21.

Held in association with Bewley's, it sees people host coffee mornings with proceeds going to the care centre, which exists to provide care and support to people facing life-limiting illnesses, alongside their families.

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) athlete lost her father Ken to lung cancer in 2021, the South Circular Road man seeing out his final days in Milford Hospice.

In a video, posted to Milford Care Centre's X account, formerly known as Twitter, Becky said: "Everyone should have access to exceptional palliative care and with your help, you can continue to assist Milford Care Centre provide this service throughout the Mid-West of Ireland and host a coffee morning social, to really make a difference in someone's life."

She asked if anyone is not in a position to host a coffee morning to consider donating in other ways, for example, purchasing a cuppa and a cake from one of these events.

"Remember: every cup counts," she concluded.

Becky Lynch is considered one of the most influential sportswomen in the wrestling arena.

Born in Limerick, she moved to Dublin at an early age.

In 2019, she headlined the first ever WWE Wrestlemania event to feature women - and became only the second performer born outside North America to do this.

Nicknamed 'The Man', the 36-year-old has more than two million followers on X, and five-million-plus on Instagram. Her profile here contains a link to Milford Care Centre's fundraising page.

It's believed her performance in 2019 attracted a worldwide television audience of over 100 million.
