A ONCE in a lifetime opportunity has presented itself to a Limerick student, who secured a scholarship Stateside.
Claire Gleeson from Castletroy, Limerick has been successful in her application the Study USA Programme which enables students to study business or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects in American colleges, across 22 States.
Claire, who currently studies Human Nutrition at Ulster University, will spend the next year at Clarke University in Iowa.
Speaking ahead of her departure, she said: “I applied to the programme as I felt like it was a great opportunity to experience a new culture and learn more about business.
“Throughout my time in Iowa, I would love to meet new people and gain skills that will help me in my future career.”
Claire is one of 56 successful students who applied to the programme ran by The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
The British Council manages Study USA on behalf of the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland and since its inception in 1994, has sent over 2,000 students to study Stateside.
