SIX PEOPLE refused offers of social housing in Limerick during the first three months of 2023, it has been revealed.
Limerick City and County Council has confirmed that the social housing applicants refused houses which were offered to them between January and March of this year.
According to documentation released to the Limerick Leader/Limerick Live, the reasons put forward for refusing the accommodation offered included: "unsuitable for the applicant’s needs due to disability", "overcrowding", "involuntary sharing" and "particular household circumstances".
According to the local authority records, five of the six applicants were offered homes in the Metropolitan District while one was offered a property in the county.
While the exact locations of the properties have not been disclosed, the council has confirmed that three are located in the Limerick City North LEA with the other three located in Limerick City East, Limerick City West and in the Adare/Rathkeale Municipal District.
No Personal details relating to any of the applicants was disclosed in response to a request which was submitted to the council under the Freedom of Information Act.
The request, submitted by the Limerick Leader/Limerick Live related to the first quarter of this year.
