The small parcel of land to be disposed of in Knockainey

COUNCILLORS in the Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District have backed a proposal to help clear the way for redevelopment works at Knockainey GAA Club in Limerick.

The proposal before the members at the last meeting before the summer break was for the disposal of o.o268 hectares (0.0662 acres) of land to Knockainey Sportsfield Co-Operative Society Limited for a nominal fee of €1.

And for Limerick City and County Council's reasonable legal fees to be covered.

A council employee outlined that Knockainey GAA Club is proposing to carry out redevelopment at their facility. It transpired that a section of their property is registered in Limerick City and County Council's name.

“It is likely that this is an historic mapping issue as they are in occupation of the area for over 60 years. They require this to be rectified in order to access grant funding,” reads the proposal that was circulated.

All seven councillors in the Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District backed the proposal to give the small parcel of land to Knockainey Sportsfield Co-Operative Society Limited for a nominal fee of €1. After receiving the backing of local councillors the proposed disposal of property will be included on the agenda for the full council meeting in September.
