Gardai and Limerick Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene in Broadford
A MAJOR emergency response was put in place in West Limerick this Friday afternoon after an elderly woman fell into a household septic tank.
Emergency services were contacted about the incident in Broadford shortly after 1pm. Gardai, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics with the National Ambulance Service all responded to the rural location.

A Limerick City and County Council spokesperson confirmed that firefighters from Newcastle West attended the scene.
“A lady fell into a tank. Her daughter had gotten her out of the tank prior to the fire brigade’s arrival,” said the spokesperson.
The woman is believed to be aged in her 70s. It is not known how long she was stuck in the septic tank.
“Firefighters administered medical aid and handed her over to the hands of the HSE when they arrived,” said the spokesperson for the local authority. Gardai also assisted at the scene.
It is understood that she did not suffer any serious injuries during the ordeal.
