Rise in anti-social behaviour reported in Limerick area

REPORTS of anti-social behaviour are growing in Castletroy, with many residents worried that phone calls aren’t being followed up upon according to Limerick Aontu representative Eric Nelligan.

The Limerick garda district is “massively overstretched” according to Mr Nelligan and the division has seen a drop in garda numbers since the turn of the year due to the retirement and resignation.

“The minister for justice recently announced more resources and gardai for Dublin in response to the recent attacks on the streets of the capital and the US Embassy warnings to its citizens visiting Dublin. However, this is not just a Dublin problem, it is also a problem here in Limerick,” Mr Nelligan said.

“We need a radical rethink in how we approach crime in the county and this country,” he added.
