WEEKS after All-Ireland victory, the Galway Races Summer Festival kicked off with a bang as JP McManus and John Kiely bask in the glory of not one, but two additional Limerick wins.

The Ballybrit Racecourse was abuzz as thousands of racegoers gathered this Monday to witness an exhilarating day of horse racing, and JP's horses lived up to every expectation.

The opening race of the festival, the 2m½f novice hurdle, was a spectacle to behold as Mystical Power, part-owned by JP McManus, stole the show. The four-year-old sensation outpaced 11 other competitors to secure a resounding win.

Dressed impeccably for the occasion, JP, accompanied by Limerick senior hurling manager, John Kiely, celebrated the win at the course.

However, the winning streak continued when another one of JP's horses, Neveradullmoment, secured a thrilling victory in the second race of the day.

Speaking at the event with RTÉ Racing, John Kiely said he goes to the races from time to time. "I enjoy a sporting occasion where I am not under the cosh," he said wryly.

Describing the atmosphere, John remarked, "JP has had a great winner here in the first, so the week is off to a good start."

While chatting about the All-Ireland, the Galbally man added that the team had a "very solid second half." "When it was really needed, they had it, and we are just delighted," he smiled.

JP said the Limerick win "no doubt" meant a lot to him. "Great team, great management, what more can I say. They are a joy to be around".

When asked what makes John Kiely so talented, JP laughed, "we can't be telling you that," before remarking on his great leadership. "We are very very lucky to have John".
