Over 9m social media users interacted with this year's Riverfest content

'Positive feedback' has been reported after this year's social media campaign

A WHOPPING 9m social media users were reached over the Riverfest weekend, with analysis revealing this to be an 83% increase over 2022. 

This year, Riverfest took place from Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1 in Limerick city and featured a range of different activities across the weekend, including the River Festival Village, BBQ on the Boardwalk, Riverfest Fireworks Display and the Panoramic Wheel. 

Analysis also revealed that there were over 1.7 million video views from content published online and on social media throughout the three day annual festival.

Head of Marketing and Communications at Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) Donn O’Sullivan mentioned the ‘power’ which media holds in ‘connecting’ communities. 

“Limerick's Riverfest 2023 once again highlighted the power of social, local and national media. 

“The results of our report shows that the joy and excitement of the festival connected communities, and created an unforgettable experience for all - it once again confirms that Limerick owns the May Bank Holiday weekend.”

A three week long media campaign prior to, during and post festival was managed and run by the Marketing and Communications team at LCCC and Piquant Media.

Speaking of the ‘positive’ feedback received this time around, Festival and Events Officer at LCCC, Eugene Crimmins said: “It is great to see this [positive feedback] mirrored by such amazing levels of public engagement on digital platforms. 

“We are always striving to improve and grow this hugely important and popular event for the city and feedback from the public is crucial in helping us do this, and it is extremely rewarding to see Limerick showcase itself at its very best - a vibrant, innovative, creative and fun place to live, work and visit.”
