A NEW survey has revealed that one in five Limerick businesses would like to be fully cashless.
That's according to the BOIPA's Merchant Insights Surveys which surveyed Irish businesses about the current payment landscape as well as business confidence and concerns.
The survey showed that 20% of businesses in Limerick would prefer to go fully cashless.
The study also revealed that 60% of Limerick businesses said accepting more card payments at the expense of cash is more cost effective, safer and more secure than handing cash and also helps with administrative tasks.
However despite the global economic uncertainty, 61% of Limerick merchants expect to grow this year.
Unsurprisingly, the cost of living crisis and running costs were the main concerns for businesses in the Treaty county. Four in five merchants cited running costs as a key business concern.
BOIPA's General Manager, Conor Quirke, said: “Our merchant's insights show that businesses are continuing to embrace digital payment technology”.
Mr Quirke added: “Results from this year's survey emphasise the continued growth of digital and mobile wallet payments, a greater awareness of the adjacent benefits of digital payments for small businesses, and the very upbeat sentiment amongst Irish businesses despite the challenging macro-economic picture”.
