A POPULAR charity shop in Limerick city re-opened on Monday after a week of closure.
Enable Ireland’s homewares store at Honan’s Quay re-opened at 9am on Monday.
The store sells house paintings, decorations, second-hand furniture, clothing, and other bric-a-brac and items for the home
There is also an outdoor element to the store, selling plants and garden-flowers.
The site was previously home to a Polish grocery store which closed around a decade ago, paving the way for Enable Ireland to move in.
A spokesperson for the charity said Enable Ireland’s store was “temporarily closed” last week, and would re-open on Monday. He thanked customers for their support.
One of these is Sean Ryan, who lives on the city’s northside.
He said: “Funds generated by the shop are vital for the daily running of the centre in Limerick for people with disabilities. It’s also a niche in society – the shop is in the sale of clothing in a current cost of living crisis.”
Enable Ireland has service centres across Limerick, including at Dock Road, Mungret and Castleconnell. It’s a State-funded organisation that provides free services to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Ireland.
