Bus Éireann announces diversions on Limerick bus services

BUS ÉIREANN has announced a number of diversions on its Limerick bus services this weekend.

In order to facilitate the St Patrick's Day parade on Friday and the International Band Championship 48 hours later on Sunday, routes to and from the city centre will be interrupted.

These diversions will be in place between 7am and 4.30pm, while the services will operate to a Sunday timetable.

Customers are asked to keep an eye on www.buseireann.ie for information on changes.

Interruptions are as follows:

Route 301

Services from Fr Russell Rd to Westbury via the city centre will operate to Limerick Colbert Station via Hyde Rd as normal. From there, the route will go to Future Sound and Vision at Upper William Street, before then travelling to Pennywell, Lelia Street and Clare Street to Island Rd. At the junction of Island Road and and Athlunkard St, it will continue on to Westbury as per its regular route.

In the other direction, the 301 will operate as normal from Westbury to the Island Road-Athlunkard Street junction. It will then travel via Clare Street, Lelia Street and Pennywell onto Limerick Colbert station. Then it will resume its regular route via Hyde Road.

Route 302

Services from outside Dunnes Stores in Henry Street to Caherdavin will instead start and finish beside the Strand Hotel. The route will travel through Bellefield Gardens to the High Road in Thomondgate before resuming a normal service after that. Back towards the city, the route will then finish at Clancy's Strand as opposed to Sarsfield Street.

Route 303

Services which link Kilmallock Road and O'Malley Park in Southill on the southside to Moyross on the northside will see some changes on Friday and Sunday.

From Southill, the 303 will operate to outside Future Sound and Vision on Upper William Street. From there, it will then travel via Pennywell, Lelia Street, Clare Street and Island Road. Then, the service will travel over Thomond Bridge to High Street in Thomondgate and on to Moyross and Craeval Pk. as per its regular route.

Back from Moyross, the bus will cross Thomond Bridge, and serve Clare Street, Lelia Street, Pennywell and Parnell Street. It will then continue on to O’Malley Park from the post office at Hyde Rd as per its regular route.

Route 304

Services from the University of Limerick to Raheen will operate its regular route to Mulgrave Street, opposite the fire station. From there, it will cut out the city centre, travelling via Hyde Road to Crescent Shopping Centre, then onto Raheen as per the normal route.

Going back towards Castletroy, services will as normal start from near the South Court Hotel, travelling into the city via Hyde Road. At Colbert Station, it will travel to Future Sound and Vision at Upper William Street before resuming its regular trajectory.

Route 304A

Services from University of Limerick to Raheen will operate its regular route to Hyde Road. Rather than continuing to Barrington's Street and via O'Connell Avenue, buses will instead go through Hyde Road and Childers Road to Crescent Shopping Centre, before resuming its regular route. In reverse, it will operate from Raheen to Colbert Station before resuming its regular route.

Route 306

Services from Henry Street to Ballynanty will operate from the Strand Hotel to Shelbourne Rd and on to the terminus by the regular route. The return trip will also operate via the normal route using a temporary loading bay opposite the Strand Hotel as a terminus.

Services from Ballynanty to Henry Street will then operate via Clancy Strand and the Treaty Stone over Thomond Bridge to St Mary’s Park. From St Mary’s Park, the service will operate over Thomond Bridge via the Treaty Stone and Clancy Strand to the Strand Hotel.

Route 343

The 343 service, which links Limerick, Shannon Airport, Bunratty and Ennis, will not serve stations between the former Ivan's shop at Ennis Road and the bus station between 7am and 4pm. However, it will still depart from Colbert Station.
