The first Explore Engineering showcase since Covid-19 attracted hundreds of students from across Limerick and the Mid-West to the Departures Hall at Shannon Airport.
Those who attended interacted and experienced engineering as a career option and viewed the many education, training and apprenticeship routes that are currently on offer in the Engineering sector.
Over 60 engineering companies, including several from Limerick, came together to showcase their leading-edge technology and provided a unique experience for students, teachers, parents, career changers and engineering enthusiasts interested in the industry to gain an insight into the various career paths in engineering.
Professor Ann Ledwith, Chairperson of Explore Engineering, commented that the showcase enabled visitors to interact with the many different companies and education providers.
She also noted that the interactive nature of the engineering showcase enabled all those interested to get a taste of engineering, to view robotics, autonomous vehicles, civil and environmental engineering, among others.
Visitors to the showcase, formerly known as Limerick for Engineering, got the opportunity to meet and hear from engineers working in their diverse roles and see and experience the amazing array of career opportunities within the mid-west region.
Mary Considine, Chief Executive Officer of The Shannon Airport Group, said it was great to run the showcase again in the Departures Hall in Shannon Airport - for the first time since 2019.
