ALDI spent €7.5 million with Limerick food and drink producers in 2022

ALDI IRELAND spent €7.5 million in sourcing and selling Limerick food and drink producer's products last year, 2022. 

The franchise’s annual Impact Report has been released, and it outlines that the six Limerick producers which ALDI partners with have benefited from the partnership last year through employment and funding, with 104 full time staff in the county. 

Since the first ALDI store opened in Limerick in 2006, located on Childers Road, €18.5 million has been invested in the county, while welcoming almost 1.5 million customer visits through the three Limerick stores last year.

Commenting Niall O’Connor, Group Managing Director, ALDI Ireland said: “Our goal is to make a positive impact in every local community that our stores serve. Our operations and stores contribute to businesses, communities and families right across Limerick.

“Our continued investment with our valued supply partners allows them in turn to invest in their businesses and their people, and we’re delighted to announce that we spent over €7.5 Million sourcing locally produced food and drink from Limerick suppliers in 2022,” Mr O’Connor added.

In addition, ALDI’s three Limerick stores donated over 42,000 meals through FoodCloud to local charities last year, while it planted over 16,000 trees in communities across Limerick through its commitment to planting 1 million native Irish woodland trees across Ireland by 2025.

Each store is also part of ALDI’s Community Grants network with Limerick Animal Welfare, the Butterfly Club, and Pieta House Midwest availing of the €500 bursary grant in 2022.

In 2022, ALDI sourced €1.1 billion of locally produced food and drink from Irish suppliers, while the franchise has long-term relationships with Limerick companies Glenstal Foods and Twomey’s Bakery.
