THE PEOPLE behind the Light Moves creative arts festival are calling on Limerick creators to submit their work.
The Light Moves festival invites local filmmakers, dancers, choreographers and visual artists to submit screendance works for consideration for the forthcoming 2023 festival taking place in venues dotted around Limerick city.
Light Moves is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick City and County Council and the organisation is not-for-profit. They are also continuing their partnership with Dance Limerick and will be collaborating with Limerick City Gallery of Art.
Now in its 7th year, the festival takes place every two years and is taking place from November 9 to 11, 2023, in both indoor and outdoor venues across Limerick city.
Curator of the festival, Mary Wycherley, said: “We expect a vibrant and adventurous festival this year! We will welcome audiences to ticketed events, as well as inviting them to keep an eye out for the free dance and music events in outdoor locations .”
Light Moves hosts a great selection of local artists, as well as some exciting international works.
“The use of outdoor spaces in Limerick city has really captured audiences' imaginations in recent years, as well as creating a sense of inclusivity, which Light Moves will continue in 2023,” Mary added.
In relation to contributors getting paid for inclusion in the festival, Mary mentioned that it is “central” to the festival's policy and that those whose work is invited by the festival will all receive payment. “Artists whose work is accepted for inclusion via the open call in this year’s festival will all receive an honorarium fee - this includes for films, installations, and other forms of presentation.”
Deadline dates to apply are March 31, and April 10.
