Local Limerick show is back with a twist

The Creative Show is back for its tenth anniversary

FOR ITS tenth anniversary, a creative Limerick show will present 10,000 years of local history – with quite the twist.

Having worked tirelessly, the Limerick Youth Theatre and AVISTA are back to present The Creative Show.

This year, they will showcase ‘ShamStory De Real History of Limerick,’ on March 22 and 23 at the Belltable.

Told by Limerick couple, Sham and Shacinta, ‘ShamStory De Real History of Limerick’ will explain Saint Munchin’s curse, whether King John ever visited Limerick, and why the Flight of the Earls was a disaster, as well as other remarkable events such as the Pope’s visit or Munster beating the All Blacks.

From writing a new script from scratch, working with hundreds of singers, dancers, musicians and actors involving school choirs, arts organisations and independent practitioners, the family-friendly variety show “brings out the best in all who participate.”

Writer and director, Myles Breen commented: “Over the last ten years, The Creative Show has travelled in space, in time, visited magical lands and last year, we spent one day in Limerick city. This year, we give you 10,000 years of Limerick history, but with a twist.”

Speaking of the show, artistic director of LYT, Angie Smalis, said: “It is a tribute to our city, to its people and to its history.”
