A HOLLYWOOD blockbuster which was partially filmed in a rural Limerick location and which stars an Oscar-winning actor has had its trailer newly released.
The supernatural thriller, entitled ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’, is based on a real-life priest Fr Gabriele Amorth, played by Hollywood A-Lister Russell Crowe, who was chief exorcist of the Vatican and who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime.
The movie will be released in cinemas just before Easter.

As revealed by Limerick Live last summer, the movie was partially filmed in the remote location where the historic ruins of Dromore Castle is situated, in the county Limerick parish of Kildimo-Pallaskenry.
Over 40 cast and crew members were shooting scenes in the gothic style Limerick location last August, with the first look at the scenic views of the Limerick castle now available for all to see ahead of the movie's official release date on Good Friday - April 7.
When 58 year old Russell Crowe last visited Limerick for filming, he was welcomed with open arms by Limerick locals and indeed, was invited to go and share a pint or two with people who were only more than glad to oblige!
The ‘Gladiator’ actor previously visited Charlie St George's pub in Limerick’s Parnell Street when last in the city.
