Good news for thousands of Limerick homes as high-speed boadband network is rolled out

NBI announces rollout of fibre broadband in north Louth

National Broadband Ireland says almost 6,000 additional homes in Limerick can now connect to its high-speed fibre network

ALMOST 7,000 additional homes in County Limerick can now avail of a high-speed fibre broadband connection as part of the “biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification.”

National Broadband Ireland, which is rolling out the new high-speed fibre broadband network under the Government’s National Broadband Plan, says there are 4,477 premises in the Adare deployment area and a further 2,161 in the Limerick city deployment area that can now join the NBI network allowing them to receive speeds of 500 megabits per second.

Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, commented: “We have seen a great uptake on our high-speed broadband network already in Adare and Limerick city. The best way for people who live or run a business in the area to check their eligibility is to visit the National Broadband Ireland website. A connection to our network will enable users to experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides.”

Across Limerick, there are 21,598 premises in the Intervention Area (identified in the plan) which includes homes, farms, commercial businesses and schools.

More than €80million is to be spend in Limerick rolling out the new network.
