Thieves abandon car stolen in Limerick village after getting flat tyre

CRIMINALS who stole a high-powered BMW couldn't handle its power as they hit a kerb which caused a flat tyre.

They abandoned the vehicle, which was stolen in the early hours of this Monday morning, and made off on foot.

A garda spokesperson confirmed to Limerick Live that officers are investigating an incident of burglary and unauthorised taking of a vehicle which occurred in Oola shortly after 3am.

"The car which was taken in the course of the incident has been recovered and is undergoing technical examination. There are no arrests at this time. Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.

Limerick Live understands that the perpetrators gained access to a house and stole the key of the vehicle. They then took off at speed in the direction of the city.

When they got to the Ballysimon Road they hit a kerb with such force that it caused a flat tyre.

Anybody who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in Oola in the early hours of Monday morning is asked to contact Bruff garda station on 061382940.
