GARDAI have renewed their appeal for information following a fatal collision on the outskirts of Limerick city last week.

The driver of a grey Hyundai 130 hatchback car died after the vehicle collided with a recovery truck on the N69 near Mungret.

"This collision took place at 9.37am on Tuesday, January 24. The Hyundai was travelling between the Dock Road West roundabout and Mungret when it collided into a large yellow recovery truck which was travelling in the opposite direction," said Garda John Finnerty.

The driver of the car - a man in his 40s - died and a full investigation is underway into the circumstances of the collision.

"We would like to ask any listeners that may have witnessed this collision to come forward if they have not already done so. Please contact the Roads Policing Unit at Henry Street garda station," said Garda Finnerty.

The fatal collision was the second to occur in Limerick this year.
