LIMERICK NATIVE, David Hickey, has been promoted to Of Counsel, at the leading business law firm, Mason Hayes & Curran.
The new role with the law firm is a senior advisory position on its healthcare team.
Having studied at both the Model School and Crescent College Comprehensive SJ in Limerick, David went on to study both politics and economics at the University College Dublin.
He later served as Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Registration at the Medical Council and is now a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Ireland.

David new role now supports healthcare providers with medical negligence claims, inquests, and inherent jurisdiction applications.
Commenting on the role of his recent promotion, David said: “My work includes defending clinical claims and guiding clients through coroner’s court inquests, ensuring they feel supported and well prepared.”
Mason Hayes & Curran employs more than 650 staff, including 124 partners, with offices in Dublin, London, New York and San Francisco.
The firm is home to one of Ireland’s largest healthcare legal teams and advises on many of the country’s complex medical law matters.

David’s connection to Limerick remains strong with his parents, David (Snr) and Peggy Hickey, running WJ South, a well-known pub in the city. The Hickey family has managed the business since 1972.
